Current State of the Global Climate

The Earth is facing unprecedented climate changes in history. The global average temperature is rising, leading to global warming. The most noticeable manifestations are the increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events such as storms, floods, droughts, and heat waves. Melting ice at both poles is occurring at an alarming rate, causing sea levels to rise and threatening low-lying areas and coastal communities. Climate change also severely impacts ecosystems, biodiversity, and global food security.

Causes of Climate Change

The main cause of climate change is human activity, particularly the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas) for energy production, transportation, and industrial activities is the primary source of emissions. Livestock farming, deforestation, and agricultural activities also contribute significantly to increasing greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere. The greenhouse effect is the process of retaining heat in the atmosphere due to gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O) absorbing thermal radiation from the Earth. The increase in greenhouse gas concentrations causes the Earth to warm up.

The Role of the Greenhouse Effect

The greenhouse effect is a natural process essential for life on Earth. However, human activities have intensified this effect, leading to global warming exceeding permissible levels.

Solutions to Address Climate Change

Addressing climate change requires global collaboration. Some important solutions include:

  • Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Transitioning to renewable energy (solar, wind, hydroelectric power…), improving energy efficiency, developing public transportation and environmentally friendly vehicles.
  • Protecting and Restoring Forests: Forests play a crucial role in absorbing CO2. Planting trees and protecting forests contribute to reducing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
  • Developing Sustainable Agriculture: Applying environmentally friendly farming methods, reducing the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
  • Adapting to Climate Change: Building early warning systems for natural disasters, investing in infrastructure resistant to climate change, developing drought-resistant and salt-tolerant crops.
  • International Cooperation: Countries need to cooperate closely to jointly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and share experiences and technologies in responding to climate change.

Climate change is a global challenge that requires the efforts of the entire society. Only when we act promptly and strongly can we protect our planet and ensure a future for generations to come.
